Dear readers,
Today I started with a very quick painting on a piece of copy paper (I only had 20 minutes to paint). For the first time (I think in my life) I started with a theme: ‘Water’.
I always thought: I just want to start with forms, lines, scribbles, colours, structure, texture, composition and so on. But not with a subject or (more vague) a ‘theme’.
And today I did.
Before I thought it would ‘fence me in’, or make it too ‘practical’ or ‘realistic’ (since I actually am really a lover of abstract art). But actually I liked it. It gave me ideas in all the thousands, millions of possibilities, to find a ‘hook’, a starting point to start painting.
I think I am going to walk this road a little bit further. But: not on copy paper. As you might see on the photo, I tore it apart very soon, because of all the spraybottle-activities!
bye!
Simone

Thanks, Dotty!
I on my part am grateful for your following my explorations. It is sooooo different when somebody is having a look at it!
Simone, I am consciously avoiding a task on my day’s to-do list because I’d MUCH rather look at what you’ve got going in your studio and read what you’ve written! Love this experimenting you’re doing. Your inner drive to play with art is so palpable on the page. Your experimenting is such a strong invitation to me to step into my own creativity, again and again and again. Thank you!
