Dear readers,
I have been working today with paint and brushes again – on simple copy paper. Nice to do something more ‘substantial’ then working with the pastels. I work really intuitively right now, not thinking at all, no planning of composition (probably that shows, the composition is maybe a bit messy – but still, I like it since it feels ‘alive’).
Love to do it, it is so nice to feel that the ability to respond in the moment to what is happening on the paper is growing.
I have been thinking about the link between ‘spirituality’ and painting lately. I have been listening to Eckhart Tolle lately, and he is talking about ‘being in the moment’, directly experiencing your senses, not being in the head. And I think one of the beautiful things of making art is that it gets you out of your head, and into the colours, the feeling of the paper, the smoothness of the crayons. Not always: something I get in a ‘I have to get this right’ mode. But sometimes I am completely in the ‘trusting’ mode: whatever happens is good.
I would love to transport that feeling to the rest of my life ;-)
Simone
