Kunst

Dear readers,

Today no finished products!

I started on the 100/100 cm painting. I have been thinking about it for a while. This is an old canvas that I painted about 15 years ago. The one and only this big. I stretched it myself, it was quite a big deal at that time. Even though I did not like it anymore at a certain point, I could not throw it away. And now it gets a second life.

First of all I painted it over with white. You can still see through a little bit. And then I started experimenting with the fluid colours and with the Azurite blue. It all works very different on a big scale. Like to do it, but it is a huge mess in my working space, which is really small. I lie the painting flat on the ground, sometimes lifting it when I want the drops to flow.

Anoter thing is that the surface is so big, that it takes ages to dry. My hairdryer does not work fast enough!

So I decided to start with a little study on 20/20 cm (8/8 inch), with Indian Yellow, Cobalt Turquoise and Naphtol red. Also not finished. The good thing about this was that I didn’t mind so much how that one ended. It was something that I did ‘in between’: in the spare time when the paint on the other was drying. I was not ‘trying so hard’, and probably that works better if you want to try out things. I’ll post that one later when it is more finished.

So: two not unfinished things on one day…. Hm: I really have to get used to that.. I guess that’s the price of painting bigger.

Thanks for visiting! I hope you have a nice (painting) day!

Simone

Simone, exciting new work in progress! So glad you posted and kept the narrative going in your blog even with unfinished work. I love seeing the progression. Is the image on the left your painting of 15 years ago, or is it the first new layer after having covered your old painting? In either case, I like it! The texture, and writing, and scribbles, and “messy” layered “unfinished” nature of the composition all make for compelling visual art.

Yes, the red one is 15 years old. I also liked the scribbled, but only the red square was not appealing to me anymore. We will see if things turn out better than they were… ;-)

And indeed: ‘work in progress’. I wonder what the next step will be.

      Thanks for following my process!
