Dear readers,
When my husband and I met we once walked over a market, and saw somebody selling canvas for painting. My husband knew I wanted to paint, so he said: you should buy that stuff! And he told me to buy a lot, so we went home with 10 meters of canvas.
I never ever used it…
Every time I saw that enormous pile of canvas It screamed: YOU ARE NOT PAINTING!
Even though I did nothing with it, I couldn’t throw it away…
And today: I cut a piece of it, gessoed it and started painting on it (unstretched).
And actually: I liked it! I liked the feel of unstretched canvas on my table: it is different from stretched canvas, and also from paper.
I just do it to try things out. I don’t think this is ‘one to keep’, but it is good to practice, practice, practice.
Something new today: soft pastels. This is the first time I use them since I started painting again in januari 2015. I was surprised how much I liked it (you can see it for instance as an orange shade over the pink).
Using softpastel means that I need to fixate it, which is not very nice since the fixation-stuff stinks and is probably not very environment-friendly.
I hope that today my new ‘titanium white’ arrives, because today I used white gesso instead…
bye!
Simone
