Dear readers,
Today I did even two experiments!!!
First: I had an old painting made on Chinese or Japenese (or other Eastern country…) rice paper. It has a lot of texture on it, and alredy a lot of blue and yellow and brown. Now I only added crayon on it. It was already torn in a beautiful shape, so in five minutes I was done.
The second one is that I tried the box of Sennelier oil pastels. They are very creamy. Too creamy, to my taste. Almost like lipstick. I think it is wasted money, but since I have them anyway, why not try them out a bit.
So I took out my art journal and just ‘did’ something. I also used the Neocolor’s: which I have in better colours. Another thing that I learned: not buy this kind of ‘basic’ boxes with red, yellow and blue in it. I usually like other colours like pink, yellowish green and teal, and they don’t come in those most basic boxes.
But I learned something on the way, which was nice!
Thanks for reading!
Simone

Hi! Yes: that might be true, the ‘tired’ energy. Maybe it also comes a bit with the ‘sluggish’ qualities of the thick oil-crayons. With the necolors I can make more ‘hard-edged’ lines, I now realize.
Funny how that shows!
It also has probably to do with the colours. The ‘children’s colours’ (sorry children) don’t fit me well.
It was a nice try though ;-)
bye!
Simone, love that you performed some experiments, love that you reported the results. The rice paper piece is especially fun, with its torn irregular shape and its five minutes of crayon attention! The piece you did in your journal comes across as a little ‘tired’ to me—it doesn’t have your signature Simone energy.
Thanks for the reminder about basic sets of colors; like you, I prefer colors that don’t usually appear in basic sets.
