Dear readers,
Today I worked on one of the small copy papers that I made yesterday. I made simple ‘blobs’ by pressing two sheets of paper against each other with fluid paint in between.
This time I started to paint it over with white (with a brayer), and after that I punt some magenta on it, and I dripped black paint on it. And then neocolor II, pencil and comté-crayon.
This was really a five-minute-painting, eventhough I did not mean it to be one. As I am busy right now, I choose very small projects and dont expect too much of them.
And I even think: why bother. Isn’t it stupid to keep on painting, when it is so small and so ‘in a hurry’.
But then I experienced this morning, that despite all busy-ness, I was ‘in the zone’ for a few minutes, just choosing paint in the moment, without thinking, just doing something, deciding what to do next, what colours, all intuitively. Knowing that I had to do it very loosely since I need my time to do my taxes etc.
But I think it is still worthwhile to stay true to this daily process of zooming in in this other ‘world’.
Saying that: I probably will not be painting for a while (maybe accidentally, but not on a structural basis) since my holiday starts!
I wish everybody a wonderful summertime!
bye,
Simone
Thank you Dotty!
We’ll keep in touch!
bye, Simone
Simone,
First of all, love this little painting with its various softnesses and its surprise of magenta. Love that you circled-but-didn’t-circle the magenta.
Second, I had the same busyness/what am I doing this for/in the zone experience yesterday! I’ll post it in a few days. It was exactly as you say: “But then I experienced this morning, that despite all busy-ness, I was ‘in the zone’ for a few minutes, just choosing paint in the moment, without thinking, just doing something, deciding what to do next, what colours, all intuitively.” Reading what you wrote put me back in the zone again for a few seconds.
Third, I’ll miss your regular posts, but I also value vacations, even vacations from that which I love. Enjoy your summertime!
