Dear readers,
Today I worked small again (20/20 cm). After al long time of 100/100 painting this was really nice. I worked with only two colours: my beloved quinocridone nickel azo gold and cobalt turquoise, both golden liquid acrylics. And white acrylics, white crayon and Indian Ink.
Really enjoying this simple good old back to basics after all this Unknown Territory of the last days and weeks. I had some thoughts about working on a very textured surface (I glued newspaper on a big 100/100 cm canvas. Maybe this does not work in my small studio, since a surface with a lot of texture on it takes also a lot of paint to cover it, and this takes long to dry. Which is slowing down very much the painting process. And since I don’t have much space here it is difficult to switch canvases.
bye!
Simone

When I painted yesterday, I looked at my canvas afterwards and thought, “Oh! THAT’s how I’m feeling and THAT’s what’s inside today!”
Meant to say earlier that I like the insect depicted in the photo at the top of your post today!
I like it too!
I love indian ink, and the effects it has.
Yes! It also depends from how much time you have, how your mood is, if you feel ready to face a lot of new things or want to stay safely in your nest.
Simone, you are back to small today! I’ve been jumping all over the place from one size to another and one project to another also. Sometimes I feel a little scattered and ‘critical’ of myself but then I see your explorations and I think, Oh, this is what artists DO—they try all sorts of things, in any sequence! Thank you!
