Neocolor 2 crayon as first layer

Kunst

Usually, I use Caran d’Ache Neocolor II crayons as a final layer on the first layer of liquid acrylics. Right now I turned it around, and started with the crayons, and put some transparent acrylics on top (and after that black paint).

I am still struggling with the amount of time I am giving right now to my daily painting. I feel supported by Nancy Hillis, who (as I have understood it right) also advocates a daily painting practice, but for her 15 minutes are enough.

It is like meditating. You don’t have to do a full zen session to be a meditator. You can do fairly short meditations throughout an average or busy day. But it is evenly important to take time to paint for longer, get out of the experimental mode and make some more in-depth work. Right now my priorities are elsewhere, and I think I am afraid that I will lose my rootedness in art making when I stay away from the more serious art making too much time.

I am looking forward very much to the rest of my workday, though, where I will be working on my new website, that I hope to publish on Tuesday 3 October.

Bye!

Simone

Laughing out loud—the thinking I shared with you in my reactie was directly from my learning from Byron Katie years ago, and you responded with Byron Katie teaching!

    Hi, Dotty!

    Thanks!
Wasn’t it Byron Katie who said: ‘Never fight with reality, because you lose 100% of the time?
I think you are right, and I will keep it in mind.

My mantra: trust the unfolding. What you are doing right now is what you ‘should’ be doing. How do I know? Because it is what you are doing.

I am enjoying your painting experiments and your discussions, Simone!
