Dear reader,
Today another business card. Since I have started to video some of the processes of making a collage, I get used to painting with the video running. You never know which one turns out interesting.
The drawback of this is that I’m getting a little bit too conscious of myself. And I think it shows in the collage. I’m not sure how to solve this one…
Bye!
Simone

I’m chuckling at your understanding that your problem is “kind of a luxury problem,” but I also want to acknowledge that you have some very specific and real challenges here in finding your way in combining art and business. Something will reveal itself as an ‘answer’ as you continue to experiment.
I know! I’m waiting to receive it ;-)
Always a new ‘problem’ to solve when painting! Perhaps you just need to keep painting in front of the camera until it becomes so routine that you forget about it again : )
Kind of a luxury problem, isn’t it? The problem is also, that if I make a video with a viewer in mind, then I like to talk to that person, explaining the process, or telling something about what I’m doing (last week I tried not to say something, and stay silent, which felt also really weird. So there is always an unnatural side to it. But you are right, maybe I should talk to myself, like a weird old lady, until I get so used to it, that it feels normal again.
The other thing is: editing a video is a lot of work, so if I make a video with a viewer in mind, I try to do that in such a way that I don’t have to cut the video all the time. Which does not add to the feeling of freedom and carelessness that I like so much in painting.
So these are my very serious problems of today ;-)
