Daily painting: finishing a painting a day

Kunst

Dear reader,

Yesterday I was reminded by a blog post by Jane Davies of the work of Carol Marin, who wrote a book about Daily Painting. Carol Marin recommends not only to have a daily creative practice but also finish a painting every day. Not a big painting of course for most of us, but a small one.

I tried that today – painting on 15/15 cm (6/6 “).

Finishing something is fun. The danger is getting out of the experimental mode, and into the ‘making something beautiful’-mode. But that is fine too sometimes.

I might be writing in more detail about this later. For now: back to work!

Simone, your painting today—your FINISHED(!) painting today—shines with such bright upbeat energy. It feels like contagious happiness : )

AND, your post is perfectly timed for me because I have many competing demands as I look ahead to this Monday in September, yet I want to paint, and I want to do more than just add a layer. My thought was to complete something small. Quickly. You have given me a lovely nudge!
