Dear readers,
Today I didn’t finish anything, only had three paintings (A4 format) in line, in three stages of ‘finishedness’. The first is (let’s say) 70% done, the second 10, and the last 5.
The last two were only made with leftover paint. But especially the last one was fun: just make marks with the leftover black!
While painting, I had some thoughts about what I like and not. I like layers. Layers upon layers upon layers! I don’t like it when I see parts in a painting that are only covered once.
This makes the painting process extra fun. The first two, three or four layers, I don’t have to ‘worry’ about the outcome. It’s just a matter of making marks. Playing with glazing, covering parts up. veiling, stamping. Etcetera.
Later I’ll see where this painting will end. When I was 70% through, I decided to hop on to another painting. Not finish it too quickly.
Monday I’ll look at it with fresh eyes!
Here you’ll find the paintings in the three stages:
Bye!
Have a beautiful and creative day!

Simone, so much playful wonder here! I love looking at your layers and layers and layers, and I am soaking up your wonderful discussions of process. These posts are the best!
Thanks, Dotty! I like to ‘think out loud’ in the posts of last week. I had this whirlwind of ideas and insights, and it feels good to write them down. Thanks for your appreciation!
