Daily painting: Making a mess & painting myself out of it

Kunst

Dear reader,

This morning I actually had to force myself a little bit to paint. There are so many exciting and nice things on my plate since I started to create a website for artists. But since I promised myself to take painting seriously and not let it drop unless there is some serious reason I started anyway. But I was sort of in a hurry, and soon the painting started to become very messy. Too many layers, too much effort. But then I worked on, stubbornly, and finally, I came to a point that I liked it.

It is a study on copy paper, so I don’t care that it is not perfect. And also being in a hurry might not be a problem.

I realize though that there is always the danger that painting will become second in line. While I want to put it in the first place. Also because there is always this hesitation, this step that I need to take to plunge into the not-knowing that is always there if you paint abstract art and not paint on auto-pilot.

Have a wonderful day!

Simone

Simone, your discussion of the internal dialogue you had/have about painting, priorities, hurries, messes, effort, hesitation, persevering, and the not-knowing: a gift to any reader, any artist, any person.
