Dear reader,
Today another painting in my art diary.
I have painted a lot of paintings using the principle of ‘negative space’. Making colorful paintings, and then covering up a lot of it. The pieces that are not covered ‘pop up’ more – because the rest of it is covered, they get extra attention.
I always used white or other colors to create negative space, never black!
And all of a sudden, today, I painted black around colorful spots. Why didn’t I invent this before?
Bye!
Simone
appreciating your discussion of negative space, Simone
Thanks, Dotty! I always like negative space, since my paintings tend to become really busy, and the moment I get sick of it, I paint a lot over, and I almost always like it better then.
