Dear reader,
Today I started again with collage. First I glued black tissue paper on the surface (simple copy paper – a pity afterward, since the painting turned out quite well). Then I used an old painting, tore it apart and glued parts of it on the paper. I have a drawer full of past studies and paintings, I never could throw them away, and they might become a rich source of collage papers (see the photo of one of my drawers below).
After that, I used Indian Ink to create marks and splashes, and that was it!
I really enjoyed the process of making a collage. A relatively new direction for me, one that I am surely going to explore further.
Bye!
Simone

Yes, it is indeed big, big fun.
And I have heaps and heaps of these paintings; I could go on for years with these scraps. And indeed: they are more fun than the ‘collage papers’ you could make especially for collage. Maybe it is because the scraps of the ‘real’ paintings already have some interesting tension in them. I don’t know if this is true though.
I think indeed when we would have a gym floor we would get quite a surface covered. Would be an exciting calculation!
bye!
Simone
Isn’t it such grand fun to use collage paper that you created yourself? Even better when you didn’t create it INTENTIONALLY to be collage paper! I like these experiments you’re doing.
LOVE the photo of your drawer of paintings. Imagine if you or I had a large surface, like maybe a gym floor, and could spread out all our paintings—wonder how much square footage we’d cover! —wonder what the assembled montage would look like!
