Daily Painting: The messy middle

Daily painting

Dear readers,

Today, I started a new series of (let’s say  10) paintings of 20×20 cm (8×8″). I intend to experiment with veiling and multilayeredness. Nothing new, but now I want to give it extra attention.

Also, I would like to explore the concept of ‘composition within a composition’. Lately, when I was painting, I happened to paint a lot of ‘squares’ withing a painting. Here you can see what I mean:

and a little bit less here:

I want to explore the idea of creating a composition of ‘fields’ on a painting, and creating a composition within that field. Sorry for the broken English…

Here’s the start of today’s painting (20/20 cm, 8/8″). It’s in ‘the messy middle’:

And here’s the start of a next one (I had leftover paint on my palet).

Thanks so much for reading and going this creative journey with me.

I hope you feel inspired to create today yourself, and hope to see you soon!

Simone, your posts are like daily art love letters! I am just finishing up a series and putting gesso on new paper to begin a new series, so you post today caught my new-series attention, inspiring me to create, exactly as you hoped!

      Hi Dotty,

Love letters, that sounds good! That’s more or less how I intend them. Love for art-making, love for a daily art practice, and love for all who yearn for creativity and can use some inspiration ;-)!
