Dear reader,
Today the first layer of a new painting on paper (20/20″, 50/50 cm, a little bit bigger than the last months).
Again, only using three colors (pink, turquoise, and Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold). Plus black and white. I loved the beautiful soft tones that came from mixing the Gold, Turquoise, and White.
The black is tissue paper. And I used some newspaper. The fun thing is that I mostly used plastic cards for applying the paint. I like it that way! You ‘scrape’ or ‘plaster’ the paint on the paper – depending on the thickness of the layer.
It’s also perfect for applying glue (matte medium). Usually, I use my fingers, but this surface is too big for that. I think it’s relatively economical this way.
Next week, next layer!
Bye,
Simone

Those little bits of text—one font bold and large, the other very small and dense, and more subtle—showing through are captivating, Simone. Your applied experimentation is visually appealing and your experimental approach itself is very inviting.
Thanks, Dotty!
