Daily Painting: working with a palette knife

Daily painting

Dear reader,

When I think of 2018, I hope my painting wil develop in a direction of exploration, trying out new things, taking risks. Today I tried at least one new thing: working with a palette knife. I still had a palette knife from 15 years ago, and I never did something with it. I see Nancy Hillis working with it all the time, so I decided to give it a try.

I actually really like it. It gives a whole different kind of mark, which you can’t make with a brush. Monoprint maybe resembles, but the fun thing from a palette knife is that you can give the paint a direction, a sense of movement.

The other thing I tried is trying a more asymmetric composition, which I do not often.

Thanks for reading!

Isn’t the palette knife fun? It’s a great implement to have in one’s painting repertoire. I see fire smoke and water here!

Thanks, Dotty! Always nice to see your associations. Had not thought about a fire yet ;-)
I indeed love the palette knife. Did not realize you use it too!

I’m sorry I still did not implement a comment plugin. I found one that did not work, I have to continue my search.

      bye!
