Daily painting: Collage without hesitation

Kunst

Dear reader,

Today I made a new postcard-sized collage, again drawing from the same scraps as the days before. I still use Quin Gold as a background, and I use scraps, Indian Ink and white marker on top of it.

I like this kind of collage as a not-too-much-time-consuming way of doing my creative practice. Because I work with scraps, I can ‘import’ color in a natural way. Because I work on a small size, there is not too much surface to cover. Because I work mainly with only one color of paint for the background, and for the rest just matte medium that I glue with my fingers, I only have to wash one brush and the ink pen. And my hands of course.

I like to play with the shapes, and I believe it teaches me lots about composition. I notice that I hesitate less and less while composing. I just glue something on the surface when I only feel a very small hunch, and if it does not turn out too well, I use it as a starting point to make it better. Maybe nothing like a bad start exists. It gives you the possibility to get something up and running

That’s it for today, have fun doing your own creative practice!

bye,

Simone

    Thanks, Dotty!

No idea if we have Monarch butterflies over here, I will check! The combination of intuition, play and uninhibited exploration: thanks for this beautifully formulated description, I will keep that in mind when I have to write something about my work ;-)!

I see migrating Monarch butterflies floating on air through this painting. I am enjoying your postcard-size collages so much! They hold the sense of intuition, play, and uninhibited exploration that I always associate with your work.
