Dear readers, today I wrked further on the big painting of yesterday. And I now consider it finished. SOOO much fun to work on it. I sort of liked it yesterday, but I felt it was too consciously ‘composed’, so the first thing today that I wanted to do was taking some liquid paint and splashing it all over the place. Yes! That was the right direction.
Afterward I added more crayon and covered some areas with more red (so more monochromy). And now I let it sit for a while, I think it is (almost) done.
Below I add some details. It is nice that here again, the same ‘childish’/ creature-like figures are appearing again. I like them!

Simone, this is magnificent—both process and product! I’m so glad you’ve kept up with your “own” painting while also painting for our Jane Davies class because you inspire me. I’m glad our class is nearing an end; I’m eager to step outside of assigned structures to explore totally from within once again. This painting is so expressive of YOU. I love the colors, the ‘childish’ (which is to say, uninhibited and unselfconscious) feel of the shapes and marks and composition.
Thanks so much Dotty! I am also happy with it. Just had to smile the whole afternoon. I am also curious what the free painting is going to bring you. But: first two more weeks of intensive painting :-)
Bye!
