Dear readers,
Today very little time to work. A bit a confusing day. I have been inspired by Nancy Willis to really paint freely, but now I bump into a sort of wall, not knowing how to go further. It is as if I am now working from too much freedom, and I am a bit stifled by it. Now I miss a little bit the more ‘compositionary’ work, the more careful choosing of colors and so on. Don’t know if I am clear.
I guess I will have to find my way through this . On the one hand keeping freedom, that is prob ably the most important for me, and on the other hand having control too.
And another thing: let myself be inspired by other artists and learn from them, and after that leaving it behind, implement what fits, and then follow my own path.
As in real life, actually ;-)
Thanks for reading this and following my journey!
Simone

I wrote a bit yesterday in my blog about painting freely and having control too. I think about that a lot.
I’ll read it!
Simone, first of all, this piece emanates beauty and composition right now. I am grateful for whatever brought this painting to this point. And, I’m eager to see where else it may go.
You may feel you have bumped into a sort of wall, not knowing how to go further, but you will find your way. As you suggest above, you are learning and making discoveries as you experiment with painting freely.
I love the way your post started with somewhat of a question and then you talked your own way through to at least part of an answer : )
Dear Dotty,
Thanks for your reaction – and thank you for seeing the positive in how I experienced this day. You are right: by writing things down I already started to see things more clear.
