Kunst

Dear readers,

Today I did something completely different. I did not want to break my rhythm of daily painting, but I have so much other stuff to do. And then I suddenly thought of  box of pastel crayons, that I never  use. I never know what to do with them, since they become so ‘dusty’, and the paper gets so messy with all the coloured dust on it. And I don’t feel like spraying this fixative stuff over it all the time – I guess the fumes are really bad for your brain and lungs!

But then I thought: it is now only experimenting, so I took out the box and just started scribbling. The nice thing is: they had beautiful colours, and they make beautiful lines – a bit more sharp then the lines and marks that I make with the Neocolor Ii-crayons. And the ‘matte’/dusty effect that they have is really beautiful.

I also added some liquid acrylics, which made it look more like my other paintings, but still I like the combination.

I don’t know though how to solve the ‘dust’/fixative problem. Do you have ideas?

Thanks for reading!

Simone

Fun! And I like all the quiet space.

I don’t have an immediate answer about the dust from soft pastels. I continue to use spray fixative as needed with various projects of mine, but as you know I create a lot of tiny art so I’m spraying far less than someone else might have to. Have you researched do-it-yourself alternatives online? There might be some interesting ideas. Let me know!
