Kunst

Dear readers,

My story starts getting a bit boring, but today I worked again on a small one 20/20, also in the same colour scheme. It is such a nice practice, starting my day making art in the morning! I feel lucky that I can do that, just colours, shapes, lines, composition. And nothing else on my mind. Knowing nothing can go wrong. Since acrylics (unlike watercolour or so) is very forgiving: if you do something you don’t like – you just put another layer on it.

Bye!

Simone

I indeed think that is the spirit.

About the color choice: For this ‘series’ I am now working with a set of colours that are more or less pre-chosen. In this case from the golden liquid acrylics: Quinocridone Magenta, Green Gold, Quinocridone Nickel Azo Gold and Cobalt Turquoise. They are the base.
Then I add teal, burnt sienna, olive green and magenta (opaque).

It feels nice to make a series that more or less hangs together. And when I start feeling bored, I can always turn a new direction.

“just colours, shapes, lines, composition” = just wonderful!

Do you select a palette of colors before you start a painting, or select as you go?

I smiled when you said “very forgiving.” Yesterday I added something to the painting I was working on and, when I stepped back, realized it hadn’t done what I’d thought it would. My thought: well, good! Now the painting has pushed me away from being too precious. Have to make some new decisions and get on with whatever happens next!
