Dear readers,
Today I started with the assignment for Jane Davies course. The assignment is: make a black/white painting, existing of lines only (thick, thin etcetera), and create layers with white paint.
This course is not so much about ‘quality’, but about ‘quantity’.
I am supposed to make 10 small paintings each week, and every week we get a different assignment.
For me, playing with lines is always fun, so it was quite an easy assignment.
I used crayon, paint, indian ink, ordinary pencil and a fineliner.
After that I went on with one of the bigger paintings.
I might have ruined it.
I put a lot of black on it, and now it looks like some elephant has walked into the room. A big one.
I hope the painting will find its way out ;-)
have a nice day!
Simone
So I did. You see the

Beach date. That sounds good!
Yes, indeed, I have been watching at my big elephant for a while, and indeed I sort of like it now where it is.
Sometimes I just have the urge to throw a stone in the water I guess, and those big black strips might be my stone today.
Have fun at the beach and I am looking forward to see you at Jane’s course. I only will post something when I at least have 6 paintings. Will you post yours on your own blog?
ps: fun to now have some idea how you look ;-)
1. It’s fun to have you several hours ahead of me, and to see that you’ve already dived in with your JD assignment. I’ve read the instructions and watched 3 minutes of the video but need to get to the grocery store, and just remembered I have a beach date with a friend this morning!, before I can indulge in playing with the assignment.
2. I’m not seeing anything as big as an elephant in your 100x100cm painting! I love your attitude, i.e. your curiosity about what will happen next, and your understanding that your painting will most likely ‘find its way out’ of where it is now if that’s what it needs to do.
