Kunst

Dear readers,

Today I finished yesterday’s painting (100/100 cm) actually with ease. Yesterday I felt ‘stuck’, but when I saw it this morning I actually quite liked it, and only added some Quinocridone Nickel Azo Gold to add depth to the teal colour, and I made some surfaces more white, and I added some acrylic marker-marks, and very thin pencil lines. Thinking what Nicholas Wilton says over ‘the loud conversation’ versus ‘the quiet conversation’, keeping the big marks and the fine details evenly important.

And now I leave it like that, at least for a while.

It learns me a lesson: don’t paint things over too soon, but sleep on it!

I made quite a lot of photographs of the details and I consider that a good sign: I want to be happy with the painting also when I am with my nose straight on it.

Thanks for reading!

Simone

    Hi Dotty,

Thank you so much! Yes, I was also very happy with how it turned out. Such a big difference between yesterday and today!

I am trying to make a subscription button for my blog, but I don’t understand how it works. So I have to do a little bit more research on how Mailchimp works for this ;-)

And indeed: would be SOOO nice to have you here in Utrecht on the 12th of March. But I don’t think that would be possible…

Simone, so much fun to read today’s update, to hear about the ease that came after a night’s sleep! With terrific results! You’ve created depth, layering, and balances between quiet/noisy, bright/neutral, teeny tiny/huge. There are so many wonderful places to ‘visit’ in this painting!

I see that you’ve posted links to your exhibit. SO exciting. I sure do wish I’d be among those attending. I also see that you’ve set up a subscription button for a newsletter. Will you be setting up a subscription button for your blog???
