Kunst

Dear readers,

Today a little bit more time, so I thought: let’s work further on one of the 70/90 cm paintings. The Big Ones!

I actually did not know where this one would ever arrive, but at that time I remembered something that Flora Bowley once mentioned, that you have ‘spiraling in’, ‘and spiraling out’.

That means something like you can dive into the details and work really with your nose on the painting, and then step behind and see how the whole painting looks like, the composition, the all over feeling.

I thought: hmm, I probably have been working too ‘far away’, too much thinking about ‘where is this going to end’. So I decided to work a bit more ‘spiraled in’, working just on details that entered my mind. One moment I was more or less ‘washing my hands’ with white paint and putting hand-marks all over the painting (remembering the cave paintings in the Ardeche where I was last holiday, where people from 30.000 years ago had covered the  cave walls with red and black handprints.

So, my time was up, I hope to work further on this one soon,

bye, have a nice painting day!

Simone

Sometimes I wonder if I bore my readers to tears when I show the micro-steps of the evolution of a painting, at which point I bring myself back to understanding that in all aspects of my creative life I do best when I put on my own oxygen mask first, so to speak; in other words, I honor myself and let others think whatever they think.

It would be my hope, however, that my readers would experience the absolute delight I take in watching your work evolve. Each post feels like a little gift just for me! I am endlessly fascinated.

I am especially appreciative today for your reference to Flora Bowley whose book I have read but whose spiraling-in-spiraling-out idea had gone out of my consciousness. What a great reminder, and I like how you applied the concept.

Your handprint in all over this painting—figuratively and now literally : )

      Hi Dotty!

      THANK you!
Yes, I am never bored by the evolutions of your paintings. The opposite is true; only a finished painting does not give the viewer a peek in the inside of the process! So I am glad you post them ;-)
